TURSA Participants Successfully Complete Comprehensive Security Course

TURSA is proud to announce the successful completion of our comprehensive Security Course by a group of dedicated participants. This course, conducted in collaboration with Linked 2, has equipped our participants with essential skills and opened doors to various employment opportunities, including the prestigious Coffs Harbour Bypass project.

Course Highlights

1. Inclusive Training Modules: Our participants received extensive training in several key areas:

  • Class 1A Security Officer Training: Participants learned to patrol, protect, and guard properties, both static and mobile, and manage crowd control.
  • Senior First Aid: They gained crucial first aid skills to handle emergencies effectively.
  • Legal and Procedural Knowledge: Participants understood the legal requirements and procedures for working efficiently within a security team.
  • WHS and Emergency Response: They learned to apply workplace health and safety measures and emergency response procedures.
  • Risk Assessment: Participants developed skills to assess and respond to security risks.
  • Patrol and Monitoring: They mastered the art of patrolling premises and monitoring property to maintain security.
  • Access Control: Participants learned to screen individuals and manage the entry and exit of persons and vehicles.
  • Defensive Techniques: Using basic defensive strategies, they were trained to protect themselves and others.
  • Behaviour Management: Participants learned to manage and control the behaviour of others in various situations.

2. Hands-On Experience: The course included practical training sessions held onsite at No1 Security Protection’s property in Karangi, providing real-world experience in a controlled environment.

3. Employment Opportunities: Upon completion, participants were offered the chance to work on the Coffs Harbour Bypass project, which operates 24/7 with rotating shifts. Additional job opportunities include:

  • Major events (e.g., Big Bash League, John Farnham concerts)
  • Commercial cleaning
  • Pubs and clubs
  • Private events
  • Traffic control
  • Council events

4. Business Placement: TURSA assists with establishing partnerships and referring participants to vacancies, ensuring a smooth transition into the workforce. We collaborated with local security companies and organizations like ETC, which were also invited to send participants along for training.

Success Stories

We had an impressive turnout of 14 participants for this course. Upon completion, all participants secured ongoing employment opportunities. This quick transition into the workforce highlights the effectiveness of our training and the high demand for skilled security professionals.
